A 22-year-old Hawks Nest woman has been fined $200 and disqualified from driving for three months at Cowra Local Court on February 7.

Shannon Margaret Thurtell was charged with driving a vehicle while an illicit drug was present in her blood.
While not appearing before the court a message was sent by Thurtell stating she wished to have the matter dealt with in her absence.
According to police facts around 11.50pm on June 12, 2017 Thurtell was stopped by police for a random breath test and drug test.
While her breath test returned a negative reading, her oral fluid test returned a positive reading for meth.
A secondary oral fluid test at Cowra Police Station returned a negative reading, the remainder of the sample was sent to the Forensic and Analytical Science Service in Lidcombe which returned positive to meth.
In relation to her drug taking Thurtell told police, “I had some ice at a friends place in Orange, I don’t take it often”.
Drug possession
A 32-year-old Grenfell woman has been fined $100 at Cowra Local Court.
Jacinta Therese Fergusion failed to appear before the court charged with possessing a prohibited drug.
According to police facts around 1.45pm on January 17 police were informed of a possible drug transaction on Melyra Street, Grenfell . As a result of this information police began a patrol of Melyra Street where they found Fergusion and another person.
Police spoke to the pair informing them they would be searched.
Fergusion at first refused to be searched but eventually consented, handing over a pink handbag, in which police located a clear resealable bag containing cannabis. The bag of cannabis was weighed at 34 grams.
