Event organisers understand there is some concern that ticket prices have increased for this year’s event.
“The price rise was in-line with similar events and was largely due to the in-depth event planning, risk management - including anti-terrorist plans - that are now legal requirements for events of this size,” Event Organisers outlined.
“Due to popular demand, a post balloon glow concert, Peter Byrne’s “Forever Diamond”, has also been included this year.”
More than 200 volunteers are set to be involved with making the event another huge success.
“This is an award-winning event which is now a flagship event for Destination NSW,” the Organiser outlined.
“As a community, we should all be very proud of the Balloon Challenge as it brings many visitors and gives us the opportunity to showcase our unique attractions.
“Not only is the event important for local businesses and jobs, injecting an estimated $2 million plus into our local economy, but our local people are integral to the success of the event.
“The volunteers and everyone involved in the stalls, the entertainment, and the loyal locals who play host to friends, family and visitors during the challenge make it a success.
“The sensitivity around the price rise is evident and we want to let the locals know we are managing this event so they still get to come and enjoy. The event was started eight years ago in a time of drought to inject some joy into our community.
“There have been difficult times when organisers have had to work incredibly hard to keep this event afloat for the community. We will continue to do so with the help and support of our volunteers.
“To that end, we have re-released a discount ticket offer of $30 per adult for locals for the Balloon Glow, night markets and concert event.
“Based on last year’s prices, if you are a family of two adults and two children between 13 and 17, the event is actually cheaper.”
Kids under 18 are free, as are volunteers, people manning stalls, an adult escorting a performing child, and carers accompanying a disabled person.
The local ticket discount will be redeemable by heading to the ‘Balloon Glow’ section of the website and using the ‘Get Tickets’ tab (www.canowindrachallenge.org.au/balloon-glow). You will need to enter the promo code LOCAL when prompted.
The afternoon program starts at 4.00pm with local dance groups. Greet the "Pilots on Parade” at 5.30pm will be followed by ‘Amitie’, female singing group and the children dancing and singing with their Glow Wands. Wands can be purchased at the Merchandise Stall.
The spectacular Balloon Glow commences at approximately 7pm and will be followed by the "Forever Diamond " Show. Fire baton dancers will also perform together with a laser hologram light show.
There will be plenty of market stalls to buy delicious food, bespoke gifts and crafts. You are welcome to bring your own picnic basket and there will also be an on-site licensed bar this year.
