On Sunday, March 11, four athletes from Canowindra Little Athletics Centre travelled to Parkes to compete in the annual Parkes Athletics Carnival.

All four athletes competed to the best of their ability and bagged a whopping total of 23 medals between them for their efforts (nine Gold, eight Silver, six Bronze).
A special mention to Thomas and Claire Phelan who took part in their first competitive athletics carnival. There were some incredible individual performances from the Canowindra Little Athletics Centre team throughout the day.
Lucy Atkinson, under-9 girls: Gold (200m sprint, 400m sprint), Silver (70m sprint, 100m sprint, high jump), Bronze (Shot Put).
Sophie Phelan, under-9 girls: Gold (discus, shot put), Silver (long jump, high jump), Bronze (100m sprint, 400m sprint).
Thomas Phelan, under-6 boys: Silver (shot put), Bronze (200m sprint, 300m sprint, discus).
Claire Phelan, under-6 girls: Gold (70m sprint, 200m sprint, 300m sprint, long jump, discus), Silver (shot put, 100m sprint).
Canowindra Little Athletics Centre would also like to congratulate Sophie Phelan for her performance at the Little Athletics NSW State Multi-Event which was held in Wagga Wagga last weekend.
Athletes came together from across the state to compete in the event where participants had to compete in all schedule events across the two days including 60m hurdles, 100m sprint, 800m run, shot put, discus and long jump.
Athletes were awarded points according to their result in each event and points were tallied at the end of the carnival.
Sophie put in some great performances over the weekend and finished 23rd out of nearly forty athletes in her age group.
