Each morning and afternoon during the Balloon Challenge a person with a ute is needed as “Flag man” This involves going to the launch site and putting up the flags on a pole attached to your ute under the Director’s instructions. It gives you the best seat in the house to watch the balloons launch each time.
You will be an integral part of the Official team and invited to the Challenge Welcome BBQ, post Balloon Glow meal etc. Please call Jan on 0428441819 if you are able to help in this way.
Also if you have any sensitive areas for stock or cropping please drop the organisers an email to info@canowindrachallenge.org.au or call the Balloon Challenge Farmer Relations team Matt Rice on 0458 787 822 or Graeme Steedman on 0403 462 044.
Remember the dates April 21 to April 29 www.canowindrachallenge.org.au
This year the Challenge will see even more pilots flying over the skies of Canowindra.
More than 30 balloons have registered coming from around Australia, New Zealand, USA, France and England.
These include a two time World Champion, USA National Champion, Australian and French champions.
Spectators can look forward to some brilliant flying.
We are very privileged to have engaged the services of Paul Petrehn, from the USA as our Balloon Director who will be ably assisted by Adam Barrow, a balloonist who grew up in Canowindra.
Paul Petrehn comes from the Balloon Capital of the World, Albuquerque to the Balloon Capital of Australia, Canowindra. His expertise fits with the reputation that the Canowindra Challenge has gained worldwide in International ballooning competitions.
