Madden crossed for three of the Tigers’ eight tries at Peak Hill on Sunday, his brother Dan Madden also bagging a double on Canowindra’s way to defeating Peak Hill 48-38.
It was a scrappy for most part with a howling wind hampering both sides efforts in attack, as well as causing trouble for players under the high ball.
Peak Hill led at the break but Canowindra, playing away from home, showed resilience and discipline to secure a hard earned round two win.
While the Madden brothers were the standouts, Dave Hogan, Marika Korovui, Tom Roth, Mick Clyburn and Alex Willson were consistent performers.
Hogan was a late inclusion to the line-up and straightened up the Tigers attack on a number of occasions, earning him one point for best and fairest.
Marika continued his try scoring form with an individual effort from 50m out darting down the blindside and getting over the line.
Roth scored a late try on his return to the orange and black, while Clyburn and Willson laid the platform with a high work rate in attack and defence.
Matt McLean converted eight goals and kicked exceptionally well all day in a devastating wind.
Tory Madden picked up three points and players player, Dan Madden got two points and Dave Hogan got one.
The two sides stood together and linked arms before kick off to show unity in the game of rugby league.
In the lower grade games Canowindra’s youth league side scored a convincing 42-10 victory while the ladies’ league tag team suffered a 28-16 defeat.
