A brief history and photos of the branch will be provided at a luncheon, which will take place at Eat Your Greens function centre.
Special guests in attendance will be Ruth Shanks A.M, World President of Associated Country Women of the World, State President of Country Women’s Association of NSW, Annette Turner, Mayor of Cabonne Kevin Beatty, Patron of the Central Western Group of CWA Gail Haydon and Helana Donaldson Group President of Central Western Group of CWA of NSW.
Other guests include Caroline Jones AO plus others attending from Sydney, Canberra, Leura and Bourke.
Eugowra branch, sponsored by Canowindra branch, met for the first time in 1928, with 22 Eugowra women being present.
Amongst those attendees from the first meeting are forebears of quite a few Eugowra residents, such as Grand daughter of Mabel Pengilly Shirley Heinzel (nee Pengilly) Noble’s Welsh’s Hoswell’s and Douglas’s.
By 1930 the Eugowra CWA branch had opened the first Eugowra maternity hospital, which was rented by the local midwife Nurse Hatton for £1.15 a week.
This maternity hospital continued operating until 1948.
The milestone celebrations will begin at noon.
The meal will be provided by Chefs Ben and Jess Stanley of Eugowra function centre.
“Eat Your Greens” has been named best NSW Regional Events Caterer at the 2017 NSW Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence and Runner up in the National Savour Australian restaurant and catering Hotplus awards in Melbourne.
After lunch guests will be entertained by The Cavalcade of History and Fashion a dedicated group preserving Australia’s social and fashion history.
Cavalcade of fashion was started in 1960 and they now have 12,000 items in their collection.
During this showing “Between the Wars, 1919-1939 you will see gowns that typify the amazing change in fashion which occurred between World War I and World War II.
From the flappers of the 1920’s to the hugging fashions of the bias cut 1930’s.
You can delight in the glamour and style in both day wear and evening wear of this era.
A Cavalcade presentation is a themed talk and includes examples from the collection with commentary.
Items are carried amongst the audience, allowing a closer look at the fantastic collection.
