A 19-year-old male driver was travelling north towards Cudal when he lost control of his blue BMW in an effort to avoid hitting a kangaroo, police said.

Emergency services attended the scene about 8.50pm.

The drive managed to free himself from the vehicle and was taken to Orange Hospital for a health assessment.
