Juggling a degree at The University of Newcastle while continuing his professional squash career has not always been easy, but this selection is just reward for his efforts.

“I’m always very proud to represent my country. It’s exciting to get that message informing me that I have been selected for any representative team, but it is special to get the chance to represent Australia” Rohan said.

The event is divided into two sections. The first is an individual event, run over four days on a knockout basis. Some previous winners have gone onto become open world champions.

The second part is a team event, also run over four days, with teams made up of three men and two women.

Many of the players participating in the event are ranked in the top 100 in the world.

Toole’s highest men’s world ranking is 206.

In squash usually there are around 90 players in the individual event, and around 20 countries represented in the teams.

Birmingham is expected to have the most number of entrants ever. The games will be played at the 2022 Commonwealth Games squash venue.

Toole is the only member of the current team who has been to the World University Games before, after he was in the team that competed in Kuala Lumpur in 2016. On that occasion he finished 21st in the individual event and led the team to 7th spot in the teams.

Toole is currently in town running coaching clinics at both Canowindra and Cowra courts.
