Installation of the special racks to house fossils is the next phase to take place, followed by the process of transferring fossils into the centre.
“The first phase of the new centre should be complete within about one week,” Mr Jones confirmed.
“The next phase is to select a firm to install the special racking.”
Workers are constructing the mezzanine section of the building this week, which is designed to be used by visiting scientists.
Mr Jones said the weather has allowed the job to progress swiftly.
“We’ve been lucky, it’s progressed very quickly,” Mr Jones said.
“While it is disappointing we haven’t had any rain. One silver lining is that it’s allowed for the construction to proceed as planned all the way.
“Installation of the racks is next.”
Construction began in May this year.
