An afternoon tea at Finns Old Store on Sunday, August 12 at 3pm will provide information to any keen junior or senior showgirl entrant interested in taking part in 2018.

“My goal for this year’s Showgirl competition in Canowindra is to take the focus off “competition” and to really focus on personal development and upskilling the young women in our community for their future careers,” Ms Austin said.

“I’d like Showgirl to become a programme, rather than a competition, that equips young women with skills in public relations and encourages them to strive towards their goals. With that in mind, I am trying to promote Showgirl as a positive experience that gives back to all entrants, not just a competition.”

Ms Austin is encouraging anyone interested in showgirl this year to attend and hear from past showgirl winners and have any questions answered.

Canowindra Showgirl’s catchphrase this year is “Unlocking Your Potential”.

Ms Austin would also like to thank Farmpix Photography for their support. 

With the Show looming, it’s also time to start plan Cobley pavilion entries, new projects or completing others.

Section X: Craft Work includes metal work, wood work, scrap book page, dolls, teddy bears or toy, embroidery, home spun wool item,  tapestry, pin cushion, needle case, bags, beading, handmade cards, plus sections for children from pre-school age to Secondary School.

Novice section (any person who has not won a prize before) knitted or crocheted scarf or a machine sewn peg bag or plastic bag holder.

The group section has any article made within a group (as an individual) or a group entry (where group members have contributed to the article). 

Section V: Junior Art provides a wonderful display of art work entered by students from kindergarten through to secondary through their School. Section Q: Quilting and Patchwork presents an excellent display of hand and/or machine sewn Patchwork Quilts with a range of styles and techniques.
