Canowindra Lions Club welcomed District Governor of 201N4 Lion Gavan Ellis and his wife Lion Jenny from Bathurst Club on his official visit on Monday, August 13.

Zone Chairman Lion Terry Carroll and Lion Deidre Carroll from Grenfell Club were also in attendance.
President Richard Bowd opened the meeting and welcomed the visitors.
Zone 5 Chairman Lion Terry Carroll introduced DG Gavan who addressed the meeting.
Lion Gavan spoke on their trip to Las Vegas where more than forty Australian s were inducted as District Governors for 2018-2019. He was proud to announce that for the first time in history the International President was a female – Lion Gudrun Yngvadottir from Iceland. Gudrun’s theme is “We Serve”, her message “Beyond the Horizon’ and her focus “Harnessing the power of 1.4 Million Lions”
Gavan said that all clubs are unique and fundraise/volunteer in various ways.
He said “All clubs need new members and the best way to get new members is simply to ask. Lions are International leaders in Humanitarian Service because of clubs like yours.”
Following DG Gavan’s address President Richard presented him with a Canowindra Lions Club banner and in return DG Gavan presented Lion Richard with his badge to be pinned on their Lions banner.
During the evening President Richard Bowd wished member Dick Marsh a very happy 91st birthday.
Dick was born August 22 1927.
