The racing industry is mourning the loss of Cowra’s Terry Kiely, a well-known bookmaker in the Central Western Districts for more than 60 years.
Terry was a member of City Tatts and came from a strong bookmaking family, with his Dad, Jack, a bookie as is his brother, Warwick.
"Dad had some big clients during his time including Frank Duval (The Hong Kong Tiger) and Felipe Ysmael (The Filipino Fireball)," recalled Terry's son, Clayton.
"He would go anywhere to meetings and I remember Dad bookmaking at Parkes races and then travelling to Bulli trots afterwards. It's a five-hour drive now so it would have been a much longer trip back in those days."

Mr Kiely is survived by wife Heather, children Paul, Leigh, Clayton and Alison, and his extended family.
Terry's family and friends and members of the racing community attended his funeral at St Raphael's Catholic Church Cowra, yesterday Monday, August 13.
Donations were also taken for the Men of League Foundation; a charity to support members of the rugby league community. The Kiely family has had a long association with the Cowra Magpies Rugby League Club.
