Canowindra man’s Facebook posts of messages lead to complaint

A Canowindra man who contravened an apprehended violence order was placed on a bond to be of good behaviour for 12 months in the Cowra Local Court on September 5, 2018.

Forty-nine-year-old Corey Lee Knight of Preston Street was before the court after the victim in the matter called police after Knight posted a series of messages on his facebook page.

The victim also complained that Knight had spoken to another person who he shouldn’t have spoken to.

The important thing is he doesn’t re-offend,” magistrate Michael O’Brien told Knight’s solicitor.

“The court regards breaches of these orders seriously.

“Terrible things can happen where orders have been put in place for the protection of a victim and conduct takes place which puts that victim at risk or causes that victim to fear for his or her safety.

“It is a matter of constant publicity or constant attention by authorities and legislature,” Mr O’Brien said of breaches of apprehended domestic violence orders.
