The wildflowers of the region will be showing off their finery as the national parks bloom over the coming weeks.
It is an ideal time to get into the great outdoors and explore the many paths and lookouts showcasing the flora and fauna wonders.
One thing is for sure – you do not have to worry about having a weekend free.
For more adventurous souls, why not book a flight and get a bird’s eye view of just how stunning the Grampians are, from the air!
For those who prefer their feet on the ground, anglers and casual fisherfolk can get out and about looking for the perfect spot to drop in a line and take home a big one, as the rivers begin to run in spring.
Flowers and art shows and displays will be staged to showcase the region’s finest beauties in nature, that have been labours of love for keen followers.
As the weather warms, the horse racing season will be upon us. The region has Cup events and racing carnival features planned to draw enthusiasts to the track. It is a season of high fashion and of tough competition on the track and off.
Many of the events planned have developed a family-friendly atmosphere, so the entire family can enjoy.
The warming mornings will also ensure crowds will be taking advantage of the regular markets held throughout the region.
These markets, jewels of some of the smaller centres including Jung, Haven, Pomonal and Natimuk, offer unique collections of goods from locally grown produce to items hand-crafted, clever or never before seen.
Highlights of the season include football and netball finals, drawing the faithful to contest for the ultimate title, and the district’s agricultural shows.
Packed with feature events, sideshow alleys and rides, the shows are a winner for visitors, old and young alike.
