Beginning in 2011, the inaugural Western Challenge Carnival was won by hosts Canowindra Tigers.
Previous winners of the tournament include Bathurst St Pats (2012, 2016, 2017 & 2018) Orange Hawks (2013) and Orange Cyms (2014/15)
The day is expected to commence at 10am.
The 2018 Western Challenge League Tag carnival attracted 22 entries from across the region.
Game duration will be 20 or 30 minutes (2 X 10 or 15 minute halves) dependent on entry numbers
All teams will play a minimum of two games.
The 2018 Western Challenge League Tag carnival attracted 22 entries from across the region with tournament organisers anticipating similar numbers for this year’s event.
The carnival was broken up into four pools, with the winners of each pool earning a spot in the semi-finals.
Previous winners of the competition include Canowindra, in 2011, Orange Hawks, in 2013, and Orange CYMS in 2014 and 2015 and more recently Bathurst St Pats.
Depending on numbers all three fields at Tom Clyburn Oval are expected to be in operation throughout the day.
Semi-finals are scheduled to start at 3pm.
Tackle competition begins on Saturday
Ladies’ tackle action kicks off this weekend with the Western Women’s rugby league competition kicking off on Saturday, February 9.
The first game of the competition sees Canowindra host Mudgee on Saturday, February 9.
The Under 15’s game takes to the paddock at 3.30pm, followed by the Under 18s at 4.30pm and 1st grade at 5.30pm.
