Sixty four registered participants began the walk at Cargo on Thursday March 7 completing the first stage after arriving in Canowindra later that day. Friday saw the group head to their second destination in Gooloogong where they all enjoyed a well-earned rest before tackling the gruelling 45km final stretch to Grenfell on Saturday.

Event coordinators Toby Barons and Sarah Knowles said they were overwhelmed with the commitment and determination of the walkers as well as their dedicated volunteer crew and members of the public.

"We had a few walkers wake up on day 3 feeling sore and sorry, assuming they would only make a couple of kilometres that day, but ended up making the entire final 45km," said Sarah

"It was so amazing to see those who didn’t make the whole 96kms still hang around to help out with anything we needed, supporting their fellow walkers and the crew, 

"We had so many people driving past, waving, honking and giving cash donations." she added.

Although not a race, crossing the finishing line with the fastest time this year was Toby's dad Steve Barons.

Toby and Sarah had a goal of raising $15,000 for the Black Dog Institute and have already raised $28,000.

"We are absolutely thrilled and so thankful for the support we received," Sarah said

"Particularly our volunteers, sponsors, the businesses that donated resources and the individuals that supported us."
