Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty has welcomed a grant of $700,000 for the reconstruction of Bangaroo Bridge, which links Cabonne and Cowra Shires over the Belubula River near Canowindra, and $644,500 for St Germains Bridge on Bocobra Road near Manildra.
Work on Bangaroo Bridge is expected to cost more than $1.5m.
"Both projects are key parts of a $21.5m capital works program, which is the centrepiece of Cabonne Council's draft Budget for 2019-20," Cr Beatty said.
The bridge has been closed since March when inspections revealed damage to the structural integrity of the bridge.
As well as being a link between the two shires, Bangaroo Bridge provides access between Gooloogong, Canowindra and Billimari for a number of rural residents.
An alternative crossing is available via Settlement Bridge.
