With an Australian title up for grabs in the elimination standing block, the who's who of wood-chopping was in attendance.
For somewhat new comers to the sport, Matt, Lachlan and Alex, racing multiple Australian and World Champions even in a handicap scenario is a nervous and daunting task.
Alex "the Axe" Rice competed in his third ever comp, and went well successfully chopping his blocks in half.
Old hand Greg Gihot, who has competed at the Royal Easter show said that he doesn't get nervous.
"It's just a race between you and the block of timber. The most important thing is chop it in half," Gihot noted.
Matt Rice had a great day of racing, winning two heats. He took out the 300mm underhand Final and came second in the 275mm underhand Final.
Lachlan Rice continues to improve after being invited down to the Sydney Royal Easter Show two weeks ago to train in the NSW Under 18s development squad, a brilliant achievement considering that he is only 11 years-old.
You aren't allowed to chop at the Sydney Royal Easter show until you are 12, so next year will be his debut.
