Alison Nita Mundy of Waddell Street was before the court charged with two separate counts of possessing a prohibited drug.
The first offence occurred around 2.10pm on May 8. Police attended Mundy's residence to investigate cannabis use in the area.
Mundy met police at the door smelling of cannabis. Police questioned her and she admitted to being in possession of a small amount of cannabis.
She allowed police to enter and seize the cannabis. They located around one gram of chopped cannabis leaf.
She made admissions to the drug being for personal use.
The second occurred around 3.55pm on May 16 when police observed Mundy light a cigarette while a passenger in a car with a child in it.
Police spoke to Munday and suspected prohibited drugs were in the vehicle.
When police asked Mundy if she had anything to declare she picked up two pieces of cannabis bud from the cup holders and gave them to police.
A further search of the vehicle located a metal tin containing unused resealable bags and one containing cannabis seeds.
Mundy's ALS solicitor Mr Abraham told the court his client was using the drug to self medicate for PTSD and anxiety.
In sentencing Mundy, Magistrate Michael O'Brien said she needed to avoid self-medicating.
"While your client has a story that is regrettable, we are talking about taking an illicit drug in a state where its use is prohibited," he said.
"She may well have the ailments stated but she needs to see health care professionals and avoid self-medicating with illicit drugs."
Mr Abraham told the court his client had since been to see health care professionals.
