Confinement feeding is one topic that keeps coming up as the Central West Local Land Services teams travel the region, now they're running a workshop in Canowindra on drought lots.
The October 10 workshop will look at what confinement feeding is and why it's needed, as well as looking at site selection and set-up.
With the sudden onset of warm weather - and the continuing dry - animal nutrition has also been a hot topic and will be on the agenda for the workshop.
The workshop will cover: management of livestock for best results; the do's and don'ts of nutrition; and minimising health problems.
Central West LLS Senior Land Services Officer Livestock Sue Street said it's a topic that has come up repeatedly in recent months.
The team has been busy running seasonal update workshops, visiting field days and meeting with producers.
"Most of August we have spent on the road running early weaning workshops, helping people get prepared to make their decisions early," she said.
If you're attending, please RSVP to Brett Littler on 6378 1708 (brett.littler@lls.nsw.gov.au) or Sue Street on 6841 6500 (sue.street@lls.nsw.gov.au)
The team is also running a series of seasonal updates that will be coming to Bogan Gate and Caragabal at the end of the month.
Some of their in-demand tools include the new drought and supplementary feed calculator and help with feed budgeting.
Topics at the seasonal update workshops will include early weaning, as well as feeding stock on crop.
That's another area they've fielded a lot of questions on in recent weeks as dry conditions hit winter crops.
"Our job is to help manage the risk," Dr Street said. "So we're looking at the best method of introducing stock onto crop, how to do that safely."
The seasonal updates will also cover sowing tropical grasses, cropping-getting ready for rain, Russian wheat aphid and building biomass through groundcover.
The workshops are at Bogan Gate from 8.30am and Caragabal from 3.30pm on October 30.
