A Canberra couple with connections to Canowindra have reached out to family and friends to reassure them they're okay after Tuesday's deadly bushfires on the South Coast.
Christopher Hodder and wife Oana from Canberra caught up with Batemans Bay Post journalists on the Batemans Bay bridge on Wednesday morning.
"We're okay, to everyone else, I hope you're okay. If I can say to my family and friends in Canberra, Orange and Canowindra, we're all okay," he said.
Mr Hodder and he and his wife are grateful to all the people who helped with the event.
"This has been a disastrous event, thank god for our rural firies and the people looking after us," he said.
