Attempting to make Canowindra a dance destination organisers are also planning for a Downton Abbey Ball in Canowindra on October 10 this year.
"We're expecting about 120 (at the 12 Hour Dance), last time we got 150 so could get the same again," one of the organisers, Gail Davis of Canowindra said earlier this year.
"I know there are a fair few people coming already, we have some coming from as far as Shepperton," she said of the day which, if it goes ahead, starts at 10am with Old Time and New Vogue dancing continuing until 10pm.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
While the dancers will be working extremely hard during the day, so too will Phil Redenbach who is providing live and recorded music.
Phil is a common sight and sound at dance events throughout the central west providing music for dances in Canowindra, Orange and Forbes on a regular basis.
The 12 hour dance will be held at the Canowindra Services Club.
"It's a nice big hall and it's air conditioned," Ms Davis said.
"Eighteen months ago we went to a 12 hour dance in Canberra and decided to have one in Canowindra. It worked out well last year so we decided to have another this year."
There was talk this year of cutting the format to eight hours but the 12 hour format has been retained due to demand and through agreement with music man Phil Redenbach.
"I was going to make it eight hours this year but everyone wanted 12 hours and he agreed to do the 12 hours," she said.
And you don't need to be able to dance to attend, you can come along, Ms Davis said, and watch some of the best dancers in action
Singles, couples, beginners and experienced dancers are all welcome.
Fellow organiser Graham Aylen of Grenfell described dancing as "addictive" and was full of praise for the Canowindra venue.
"We hope to put Canowindra on the map as a dancing destination," Mr Aylen said.
The dancers aren't expected to occupy the dance floor for 12 hours straight with breaks for drinks and something to eat, they will spend many hours performing brackets selected by central west dance groups.
Among the dances will be modern waltzes, old time waltzes, straight eights, tangos, rumba, the cha cha, foxtrot and blues.
Spot prizes will be given out and brackets of freestyle dancing performed.
No bookings are necessary. Cost to take part is just $10.
