From midnight March 30, Golf NSW recommended that all golf courses in NSW close until further notice, with the decision being made following advice from the NSW State Government and the NSW Office of Sport.
The announcement also came as Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, made further restrictions in relation to social gatherings and self-isolation of the elderly in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
"The Government has listed the four reasons in which you may leave your home; for work, exercise, food, and for medical reasons," Golf NSW said.

"Sadly, under the current restrictions, sport is considered non-essential and therefore not exempt.
"Action by authorities, including fines, could be imposed on people not adhering to these regulations."
The decision still allows for course maintenance as long as staff adhere strictly to social distancing requirements.
I would like to wish everyone the best of health.
- Jaymee Crowe
In a post on Facebook addressing the closure Manager of Canowindra Golf Club, Jaymee Crowe, said she wished everyone well during this trying time.
"We don't know how long we'll be shut down for," she said.
"On behalf of the Canowindra Golf Club I would like to wish everyone the best of health and wellbeing, we'll get through this and see you on the other side.
"We are thinking of everyone and we will reopen once we get the go ahead from the Government to do it.

"Even though we are shutdown we're still looking after the course and still looking to implement new ideas when we reopen," she said.
Luckily Canowindra golfers were able to get one final round in before the closures playing an 18 Hole Stableford on Sunday, March 29.
The winner on the day was Robbie Lawrence with 37 points. Runner up was Adam Rogers with 34 points on a countback from Frank Hutchins.
Thanks to Doug Flannery, Max Haley and Charlie Lawrence for your work on the course through the week.
