With Volunteers Week being celebrated across the nation this week it is appropriate to note that one of Cowra's major cultural highlights which relies heavily on volunteers won't go ahead this year.

This week the 2020 Cowra Eisteddfod, run entirely by volunteers, would have been on stage, featuring all the amazing local talent.
Entries had been received, sponsorship had been coming in, and programming had commenced - when COVID-19 raised its ugly head.
This meant the committee had to bow to the inevitable - and cancel the 2020 Cowra Eisteddfod.
In the last couple of months the Committee has gone through the process of contacting all competitors and sponsors to organise the return of monies that had been collected.
The committee members, like most other people are in "isolation" however have already had online discussions about the planning for the "bigger and better" Cowra Eisteddfod, to be held May and June 2021.
The Cowra Eisteddfod relies completely on volunteers, who give wonderful support in the planning, organising, and running of every session of the three week long platform for performing artists.
Whether it be a school choir or percussion group - an accomplished pianist or the beginner trying the recorder for the first time - the shy five year old performing a "nursery rhyme or the drama student performing a monologue- the 4 year old "Baby" or the graceful senior dancer trying to win a Championship - the nervous teenage singer or the accomplished Aria performer - the Cowra Eisteddfod has supplied a platform for performing artists for 66 years - and will continue to do so in the years to come.
