A new face has joined the force at Cowra Police Station, Probationary Constable Pip Johnson.

A country native and local to the Central West, Probationary Constable Johnson is looking forward to serving the Cowra community.
"I'm from the region originally. I went to primary school in Canowindra and live in Orange, so I'm familiar with the area," she said.
"I was very happy to be placed back in the country, you can put preferences down, but we can get sent anywhere. So I'm looking forward to my time here.
"I do know some of the community already and it will be good.
"I'm looking forward to getting out into the community and helping out where I can," she said.
Probationary Constable Johnson said she had been backed by her family during her training.
"Thanks to my family they've been really supportive of this and so has my partner," she said.
"Keeping the house clean while I've been at the academy and looking after the dogs."
Probationary Constable Johnson said she had always wanted to join the police, but her start had been a unique one.
"The academy was a different experience, we were locked in there for the last three weeks (due to COVID-19)," she said.
"It was trying not being able to go home.
"We didn't have a general Attestation Parade and got out two weeks early so coming out within a pandemic has been pretty unique and interesting."
She said she had been warmly welcomed to the station.
"It's been a really good start everyone has been really lovely helping out," she said.
"They've been very friendly.
"I'm excited to go and engage with the community and to work with them, because this is a place I've grown up.
"I'm used to playing sport here and it means a lot to me to give back to the community.
"I hope to go to a plain clothes unit eventually, doing more investigations but not quite a detective, still out on the street but in a more proactive role," she said.
