The Redbacks offered Canowindra few openings throughout the match but the Pythons were unable to convert any of their chances into points, going down 50-0.
Middleton said while his side are still searching for their first win of the season, they continue to be keen to take to the field each week.
"We knew what we were up against on Saturday, a much better opposition, more experienced team," he said.
"They were all upbeat and really happy with the game. I was really impressed with them after the game, just their attitude was really good."
Middleton said the team needed to focus on tidying up their game.
"They made some good little runs there, almost got some points a few times but I was a lot happier with our defence this week," he said.
"We need to work on our attack a bit and controlling the ball.
"Just getting a few of the mistakes out of our game, if we can tidy up a little bit of that stuff, that's what we're going to work on this week."
Despite the "little penalties and mistakes" and the big hits from a bigger opposition across the park, Middleton said his men continued to play for the 80 minutes.
"They've been coming back from that sort of thing," Middleton said.
"They're not laying down when something like that happens, they have another dig."
Middleton said his young side will improve with time and the addition of players such as Tom and Conor Lamond, Tom English and Ronnie Lawrence offer up some experience this season.
"All those guys have helped us out for sure," he said.
Middleton said it was now a matter of getting the little things right when they travel to Molong to face the Magpies this weekend.
"We've got to work on the silly things really, like little penalties and a few mistakes," he said.
"Just trying to improve our attack a bit and just retaining the ball when we have the ball, not to give away the ball too cheaply.
"Talking to them after the game, they were a lot more positive and even though they got beaten pretty well, they're still upbeat about playing and having a go."
