Westfund has continued its commitment to regional communities across Western NSW when staff from the Orange Care Centre took time to give blood and support Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.

The donations were part of Westfund's Community Day initiatives that celebrate and pursue their ongoing commitment to communities, something which has been part of the funds spirit since its inception.
Westfund's Orange Regional Manager, Nicole Buesnel, said it was a fantastic opportunity for local staff to help foster a community-based initiative that had the potential to impact lives.
"It's great to be able to support an important initiative that plays a vital role in helping those who need it most," she said.
Westfund's Community Day initiatives were recently launched at their Head Office in Lithgow in collaboration with the Lithgow Information and Neighbourhood Centre (LINC).
Following a $10,000 donation, staff from both organisations gathered to pack more than 300 hampers for those in need.
Other initiatives were conducted at Care Centres across the region including Bathurst, Mudgee, Orange and Dubbo, and supported grass-roots organisations such as neighbourhood centres, food banks and distribution, blood donation and gift drives.
The Community Day initiatives are just another way Westfund is giving back to local communities and backs up their Community Grants Program.
In 2020, community groups were invited to share in $170,000 in funding, including the 'Here for Hearts' program which provides access to defibrillators.

Westfund CEO, Mark Genovese, said they were proud of the funds strong community ties.
"We are incredibly proud of how Westfund started and what it has grown into today - a fund that's founded on and driven by community values," he said.
"We started in 1881 when a group of Lithgow miners banded together to provide access to hospital services. Healthcare has evolved a lot since then, but one thing that has never changed is our commitment to community and the members we serve."
The Community Day initiatives coincided with a brand refresh by the private health company which is aimed at improving services and communications.
The brand and online portal refresh rolled out across digital channels on December 1, and Mr Genovese said that the initiatives and refresh went hand in hand. "We've chosen to launch our latest brand refresh by giving back to the people and communities that have supported us," he said.
COO, Jon Goodgame, said that empowering communities was at the heart of the fund's focus.
"It's in our nature to take care of people - our members, the people that work for us, and the communities we serve," he said.
"Providing people whatever they need to feel good and for us, it's a core belief and set of behaviours - to feel good and do good."
