A SEVERE storm warning is in place across the Central West Slopes and Plains, along with parts of Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes and Lower Western Districts.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) issued the warning around lunchtime on Monday, January 4, with heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hailstones expected.
Locations which may be affected include Orange, Bathurst, Dubbo, Parkes, Forbes, Condobolin, Cowra, Grenfell and Young.
The heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in areas, not unlike that observed in Parkes over the weekend with 72mm of rain and 158 kmh winds causing havoc across the region.
The State Emergency Service (SES) reminded people to be safe during storms and to not enter floodwater.
"People should move their cars under cover or away from trees and secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.

"Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences and keep clear of waterways including creeks and storm drains.
If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue."
Anyone requiring emergency assistance during storms or flood should ring the NSW SES on 132 500.
The rain is set to continue throughout the beginning of the week with Dubbo, Orange and Bathurst all looking at up to 60 per cent chance of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday followed by easing conditions on Thursday and Friday.
