Cara Kemp from Cowra High School was awarded a scholarship for her dedication to her work and the larger school community during her years at CHS.
Like her cohort, Cara was also acknowledged for continuing her studies in her final year of school despite the COVID-19 lockdown.
Cara gained the top place in English Extension at Cowra High School through her conscientiousness.
She has always wanted to study nursing and has the understanding, compassion and a desire to give a little extra and do a little more, which are required to be an excellent nurse.
She plans to study Bachelor of Nursing at Canberra University, and is looking forward to nursing in the country when she completes her course.
The Canowindra High School awardee was Georgie Fisher who was Dux of her year.
She is studying at University of Wollongong where she is enrolled in Bachelor of Nursing.
Georgie has always wanted to be involved in health and was an exemplary student, exhibiting commitment, determination and resilience.
She has always set herself high goals and her teachers believe she will thrive in her chosen career.
As the last year meant we were forced to cancel our fundraising efforts, we were grateful for the financial support of the Cowra Services Club and private sponsors.
To them, we extend our sincere thanks as the generosity of these people enabled us to continue supporting the further education of the young women from our district.
Thank you to the coordinator of the HSC Scholarship Sub Committee, Sue Brown, for organising the interviews, and her committee who attended the interviews.
Thank you to the teachers from both schools who encouraged their students to apply for the scholarships.
The committee plan to hold a luncheon in April with a former English/History teacher, Jon Wickham speaking on his passion World War I History.
Jon has taken many tours to Anzac Cove and the Western Front and is a very entertaining speaker.
Hopefully by then there will less worry about COVID and we will be able to hold this interesting and informative luncheon.
