A win over the Trundle Boomers on Saturday confirmed the Tigers as the team to beat in this year's competition, the Tigers securing a solid 24/20 win in a hard physical game which should prove a great moral booster for the boys.
Players player was shared by Aaron Earsman and Nathan Whatman in a see sawing struggle between the two sides.
With 10 to go in the first half the Tigers held a slender 6-4 lead after bombing several opportunities in a quick paced game.
Just as the Tigers looked to get on top errors crept in to their attack but their defence was holding tight.
Tim Roberts extended the lead to 12-4 with a good try under the posts five from the half time break but the Tigers let Trundle hit back twice before the break for the Boomers to go to the sheds leading 16-12.
Tested early in the second half the Tigers defence held firm with good defence from Brydon Hughes, the pressure telling and Trundle spilling the ball.
The Tigers were first to score in the second half to take the lead 18-16 with injuries forcing the coaching staff to make a number of positional changes as the match continued to see-saw.
With 17 minutes to go the Tigers extended the lead with a conversion from the sideline, from Burns, taking the score to 24-16.
With seven minutes remaining Trundle hit back with an unconverted try in the corner bringing the score back to 24-20 and setting up a thrilling finish with the home crowd exerting plenty of pressure on the man in the middle.
Despite both sides launching a series of attacking raids and Trundle aided by a glut of possession both defensive lines held firm with the score remaining 24-20 at the bell.
In Youth league the Tigers had a 26-20 win over Grenfell. The League Tag side ran out comfortable 32-4 winners over Trundle.
In other first grade matches Condobolin 12 went down to Peak Hill 50, Eugowra 24 defeated Grenfell 16 and Cargo 26 defeated Molong 50.
