Organisers of Canowindra's Downton Abbey Ball have been successful in securing funding for the event from Cabonne Shire Council.

At its meeting last week the council agreed to provide the Canowindra Old Time and New Vogue Dance Group $1500 to help fund the event.

The 12-hour dance is a continuous, three day, program for people to come and go as they please starting at 10am to 10pm on a Friday.

The second event is to be a Downton Abbey Ball on the Saturday night, followed by an After Ball on Sunday.

This allows it to be a weekend long event.

The aim of the event is to promote Canowindra as the dance capital of the Central West, due to this style of dancing ceasing in other towns.

The event is expected to have attendance of 300 per event.

The grant money will be used to assist the hire of the NSW Ballroom Champions to do demonstrations at the events.
