With final ticket sales tallied at 7749, President of the Organising Committee, Andrew Pull, said the event was one of the biggest in the Canowindra Challenge era.
"Previously when they had the old Marti's Balloon Festival back in the 90s, they were quite big," he said.
"But they believe it's the biggest since it restarted.
"There was certainly plenty of people, plenty of food and plenty of balloons."
Mr Pull said around 99 per cent of the feedback he had received had people saying the event was "absolutely wonderful".
"Jayne Denham was sensational, she had such a great voice and put on a great show with kids right through to people in their 60s and 70s dancing in front of the stage," he said.
"We had Oli Statham prior to that who played some well know pub music, he had everyone applauding and we had Cranberry Jam from Canowindra with some fantastic support.
"Gates opened at 3pm and they played then and we had people who had come just to see them, so that was terrific."
As for the main event of the evening, the Balloon Glow, he said it was one of the best he had seen in his 20 years in Canowindra.
"It was great work by Adam Barrow, we had some different music this year, he started from scratch and did an absolutely terrific job with that," he said.
"There were so many comments saying how good the Glow was."
Mr Pull said the week's competitions had also been fantastic to see.
"We had three afternoons where we had to cancel flights because the weather was too good," he said.
"The winds stopped and it was still, balloons can't fly without wind.
"But every morning at 6.30am people were downtown looking for where the balloons were flying from.
"If it was in town, hundreds of people watched them take off, and if it was out of town, hundreds of people were at the Oval or Showground to watch them hit their targets."
He said the balloonists who had attended were overwhelmed with the reception they had received.
"They were treated to a cocktail party by Tommy Jeffs on Thursday night and they were overwhelmed by the welcoming mat he put out," he said.
"The locals who came and mingled with them, it was a terrific night.
"Then on Friday we had Flickerfest which was just about a sell out and on Saturday we had the street parade.
"The crowd just loved it, we estimate we had around 3000 people down the main street for it."
Cabonne Mayor, Cr Kevin Beatty, said the week's events had been incredible to see.
"At the start of the glow I was in the middle of the field near the stage and all you could see was people," he said.
"It's wonderful for Canowindra in particular but Cabonne and the region.
"Congratulations to the committee, they did a fantastic job after COVID and it just goes to show people are getting out and about travelling, going to these sort of events."
Cr Beatty said he was more than pleased with the investment council had made in the event.
"Seeing the turnout for the Glow on Saturday was amazing but I was in town earlier in the week and the people going in and out of shops was incredible," he said.
"The caravans were rolling in and parking up and that was fantastic as well.
"The local talent there was fantastic, the most rewarding thing was the amount of people going through the gates.
"I think it's a natural thing that we will once again endorse and support the challenge again next year.
"In fact it will probably be even bigger and better next year.
"A big thank you Adam Barrow and Andrew Pull, the entire committee and volunteers that worked so hard not just on the Saturday night but for the whole planning stages and week of the challenge," he said.
Mr Pull said the committee would now have a break before having a debrief on the event.
"There was probably one or two hiccups we could improve on but my gut feeling is you can try and do too much," he said.
"We just need a bit of stability from what we did this year and continue along those lines.
"The crowd loved it, the town loved it and there was lots of positivity.
"Not just from the economic benefits but the positive mindset everyone has at the moment.
"A big thanks to the community for getting behind the balloonists and our major sponsors Cabonne Council, Supagas and the Canowindra Services Club."
