A unlicenced Canowindra man who drove an unregistered and uninsured car has faced hefty fines at Cowra Local Court.
Colin Desmond Izard, 44, of Waddell Street, Canowindra, was before the court and plead guilty to driving while unlicenced, using an unregistered registerable vehicle and using an uninsured vehicle.
According to police facts tendered to the court, around 3.40pm on July 27, 2021, police were travelling east along Flanagan Street, Canowindra when they sighted a Mazda Tribute with a box trailer and immediately identified Izard in the driver's seat.
Police were aware Izard didn't hold a licence.
Police followed Izard and activated their warning devices until he stopped the vehicle at his residence.
When asked by police if he had a licence, Izard said "No I don't, not for a while".
Checks on the licence confirmed this and revealed the vehicle and box trailer were unregistered.
He told police the registration dates "shouldn't be out by much".
Izard was then given a formal warning.
When asked at court by Magistrate Jillian Kiely, Izard, who represented himself, said he "never bothered" to get a licence due to the fact he was a stay at home carer.

Izard was ordered to pay $660 for driving unlicenced, $330 for the use of an unregistered vehicle and $550 for the use of an uninsured vehicle.
