In fact, that will be the motto of the squad in 2022 after the Woodbridge Cup season came to abrupt end last week.

While Grimshaw said the 2021 campaign was a success, the side wants to go one better next year after failing to secure top spot at the end of the regular season.

"The last couple of games were a bit disappointing for the first grade, we could have tied up the minor premiership but that's footy and that's how it goes," he said.

"And once you get to the semi-finals, it's a different ball game altogether.

"But overall a very successful year I thought."

There's no way to know how the Tigers would have fared in their finals run after NSW Rugby League (NSWRL) blew time on any remaining competitions across the state due to the ongoing COVID crisis.

Grimshaw praised the various competitions for continuing to look for ways to end the season in a meaningful way.

"Everyone was for it [playing finals] instead of being in the negative box and saying it was too hard, that's what I liked about it," he said.

"Not only Woodbridge Cup but Group 10, I know Group 11 was in a different situation with Dubbo with the cases there, but with Woodbridge Cup I thought Andrew [Pull] and the committee did extremely well.

"Small towns, it's part of their nature, the footy, and that's why I give full credit to Andrew and the committee for holding off as long as they could until NSW Rugby League said there would be no community sport this year and that took it out of their hands."

For now, Grimshaw said he is busy looking to the 2022 season.

"What I've been doing is canvasing the players already and at the moment it's looking very good," he said.

"I'd say 90 per cent, 95 per cent of the players that were there this year will return again next year.

"They realise themselves we have some unfinished business and that's going to be our motto for the year."

He said he hopes the Canowindra community gets behind the club with the same enthusiasm shown throughout 2021.

"I thought the community got behind the footy club," he said.

"They were really behind us and anticipating for us to make it to the grand final, whether or not we win it I don't know, but I thought their anticipation for us was very, very strong as well.

"I'd be 99 per cent sure they will be behind us again and I'm sure all our sponsors will be onboard again because they got really good value for their money through the club."

Grimshaw also acknowledged the efforts of the club's other grades.

"The overall of the club was really great, we ended up second, the youth league was first and the girls were third," he said.

"Everyone helped one another out through the grades and we reaped the benefits of it on the ladders.

"We've been very proactive about next year and everyone does realise we have some unfinished business to do."

The club is planning for non-formal presentations later in the year.
