The preliminary games were played over three nights during the week leading up to the finals.
Monday night saw our ladies and juniors take to the court, Tuesday night was B Grade and Ladies Masters and Thursday was the Opens and C/D grades.
There were some incredibly close games which were fiercely contested and great displays of sportsmanship shown throughout the week.
Although most players have not had a lot of opportunities to practice and have not had many games under their belt due to COVID, the standard of Squash displayed over the week/weekend was a delight to see.
Our Club Championships were unfortunately cancelled last year due to COVID lockdowns so everyone was very pleased when we could go ahead with them this year.
There are many hours of preparation that go into the organising and coordinating of the Championships so we would like to thank everyone who did their part to make everything come together for an enjoyable week of squash.
A big thank you goes out to Des McDonald who donated his time on Saturday and was our BBQ extraordinaire.
We would like to acknowledge and thank our continued Championship sponsors Lawrence's IGA, Nassau Estate, Swinging Bridge Wines and Viridis Ag.
We would also like to thank the following new sponsors who have generously supported our Championships in 2021- Taste Canowindra Bottler, Sportspower Cowra, Sportspower Orange, Orange Tenpin Bowl and Cate Loud "Bear and Big Co. Creative".
Without the support of our sponsors the Championships would not be as successful as they continue to be.
Congratulations to all of the 2021 champions and to everyone who took part in the championships and made it such an enjoyable event.
There were so many great games played and the Open final was no exception with the Austin brothers duelling it out for the Open Champion title.

There were some fabulous results during the Championships and it is such a delight to see how much our juniors are improving.
Our Championships finished off with a delicious dinner at Montrose House. It was a lovely evening and Tommy and his staff did a tremendous job.
Finally, I would like to invite all players including Juniors, Monday Night, Tuesday Night and Thursday Night to join in some fun for our last night of Comp for 2021 which will be Thursday, December 16.
We will be holding a "Fast Five" competition commencing at 6pm along with some lucky door prizes and our Christmas raffle fundraiser will be drawn at the end of the night.
Everyone is encouraged to dress up in a "Christmas" theme and there will be a prize for the best dressed on the night. It is a bit of fun to end the year and we hope all players will join in.
There will be flyers up at the courts with all of the details and please keep an eye out on our Facebook page for updates too.
A shout out goes to Super Cellars Bottler, Donna Mirto "Frock On", Cate Loud "Bear and Big Co. Creative", Country Prime Meats and our squash club members who have all kindly donated items for our Christmas raffle.
Thanks again to everyone who has supported the Squash Club in 2021 and we look forward to many games of squash and hopefully some tournaments away in 2022.
Merry Christmas everyone and please stay safe and healthy during the holidays.
