The club received the accolade at the Australia Day awards last Wednesday.
"What we're recognising here today is 56 years of service to the community, so it's not just what's happened in the last 12 months," Mr Boatwood said.
"The ones who have been here the longest deserve this the most, we've just happened to come in at the right time and ride in on the coattails."
The club has played a key role in the Canowindra community as major fundraisers and are involved in many facets of the town's activities.
Each year they make large donations to local schools, charities and Ronald McDonald House Orange.
The club has also provided plenty of barbecues at events throughout the year and operate the Food Basket weekly and the Driver Reviver on public holidays.
"All members do it with a positive attitude and happy smile," Councillor Jenny Weaver said.
