According to WaterNSW data, the water level hit a peak of 2.7m at The Needles early on Sunday morning before gradually dropping down to just over one metre.
As a result, the Belubula River at Lyndon (Upstream Canowindra) came close to hitting 4m around 8.30am on Sunday.
This was higher than the 3.80m predicted by Central West NSW SES when a flood warning was issued on Sunday morning.
There were reports of roads being inundated with water, including near the back access to Cadia and Carcoar.
It follows on from flooding experienced at the end of 2021.
The SES reminds residents to never drive, walk or play in floodwaters and take precautions ahead of rain events, including:
- Relocating to higher ground if you work or camp along rivers
- Relocating livestock, pumps, chemicals and equipment to higher ground if you are a farmer or landholder - do not wait until the flood peak approaches
- Being aware of vermin, snakes and spiders seeking refuge from flood waters.
- Consider evacuation if severe flooding is predicted and ensuring you can leave the area safely
- Staying up to date with information. Listen to flood warnings and follow advice on how to protect yourself, family, and property
For emergency help in floods and storms, call the NSW State Emergency Service on 132 500.
In life threatening situations call triple zero (000) immediately.
