The beacon still shines brightly, Canowindra Health Services manager Janice Rumph told those gathered at a morning tea on Tuesday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Canowindra Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
The morning tea, in the hospital grounds, marked the start of a week of celebrations culminating in a dinner dance at Saturday at the Canowindra Services Club.

"One hundred years ago this hospital was built for anyone in need," Ms Rumph said.
"And to commemorate those who served in World War I.
"This day, Peace Day was chosen quite deliberately as the opening day for this hospital, in 1922.
"It is our privilege to come together 100 years later to celebrate the continuous operation of this rural facility that was fought so hard for by the local community and government of the day," she said.
Ms Rumph also paid tribute to past and current staff.
