Gail Davis and Jenny Middleton are working, along with plenty of encouragement from parish priest Fr Laurie Beath to hold a Catholic Debutante Ball in Canowindra.
The date has been set, five debutantes have already agreed to take part, a guest of honour is in place and the venue has been secured for the presentation of debutantes on September 9.
"We think we haven't had a debutante ball in Canowindra since 1983 or 1984," Jenny Middleton said.
Canowindra's first Catholic Debutante Ball was held in May, 1935.
"We're just reinventing something," she said.
"It wasn't the first Catholic Deb Ball in Canowindra, but it was the first Catholic Debutante Ball," she said.
"Familiar names from that first ball included Rices, Coadys and Crowes," she said.
There were 17 debutantes at that first ball with five, so far, agreeing to take part in the 2022 version.
"We're reinventing the idea with old time dance music and presenting debutantes from over the years with their original partners," Ms Middleton said.
"The first debutante and her partner we'll be presenting originally made her debut in 1951.
"It's a bit of a twist, something different," she said.
Organisers are still waiting on a response from a couple of other former debutantes.
"They'll be six or seven we hope," Ms Middleton said.
The ball will be held in the Canowindra Services Club auditoorium with a light supper provided.
Tickets are just $30 each and are available through Gail Davis on 0417 747 338.
"It's going to be fun night. Dress will be semi formal, we don't want people dressed in their jeans," Ms Middleton said.
Music will be provided by Barry Whitty.
