No it's a 'Balloonatic' in a wheelie bin!
This has to be one of the more unusual sights that you'll see at Marti's Canowindra Balloon Fiesta this year ... ex-Canowindra boy Adam Barrow, returning to his home town in a 35,000 cubic feet solo hot air balloon that he's made himself - with a bright red wheelie bin serving as his basket!
Adam's balloon, nicknamed WOFYL (Watch Our For Your Legs!), has received it's Certificate of Airworthiness from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) but if you have any thoughts about joining Adam for a flight, you'll be disappointed - WOFYL is designed for just one occupant - Adam.
"I've been ballooning for 25 years and I had never flown solo, so I decided to build my own balloon - just for me," said Adam.
"It has been one of the most rewarding things I've ever done and flying by yourself is an amazing sensation."
Adam's balloon cost just over $3,000 to build. At that price Adam thinks it's one of the cheapest aircraft flying in the country.
Adam has taken the bin and balloon to the World Ballooning Championships in Mildura where he created enormous media interest.
He and WOFYL will be in Canowindra for this year's Marti's Canowindra Balloon Fiesta on April 23, 24 and 25.
Marti's Balloon Fiesta is one of the largest hot air balloon gatherings in the country and while you can't hitch a ride with Adam, there will be plenty of opportunities for passenger flights in more conventional balloons.
