Ingrid O'Ryan was presented with the top sash at the Canowindra Show on Saturday.
Ten young women had entered the competition and were judged after attending a cocktail party, undertaking show responsibilities like sashing section winners and having interviews with the judging panel.
Ingrid said country shows were a great opportunity for people to come together and build community spirit.
"I wanted to be involved for the experience, and to represent Canowindra if I was successful," she said.
"Now it's a bit scary and nerve-racking though."
Ingrid will represent Canowindra at the regional showgirl finals in Bathurst next February.
She is taking a year off after she finishes school and intends to spend three months volunteering in Kenya.
For the first time this year a Junior Showgirl was also named from a field of four entrants.
Canowindra High School year 10 student Andrea Davis took the title and said the competition was more difficult than she expected, but also lots of fun.
