Dear editor
I have just spent the past week in Canowindra visiting friends and I must congratulate your hard working employees responsible for the upkeep of Canowindra.
Right from entering your town its appealing appearance is a great example of a Tidy Town.
However we drove out to the lookout to view the hot air balloons in full flight on Sunday afternoon and were greeted by the disgusting appearance of the rubbish on both sides of the road nearing the lookout.
The southerly view from the top of the lookout was absolutely disgusting.
I perceived it to be the local rubbish tip until having a conversation with a local resident whilst there only to discover the said land is privately owned.
I felt so strongly about this mess that I am writing this email to draw your attention to it.
I am very sure other visitors must have also seen this combination of various cars twisted metal and junk.
Please can this be cleaned up before next year as we are regular visitors to your town.

Anzac ideals
The enduring Anzac legacy and the ideal of mateship are more important than ever before.
Mateship is an integral part of the Australian identity. It’s an ideal that defines our nation’s character – this idea of looking out for each other, through the good times and the bad.
As we enter these uncertain times, I encourage all Australians to reflect on the Anzac spirit and the strength and hope it brings, and remember why mateship is an ideal still worth fighting for.
