The Beef Cattle Paraders' Competitions showcases young people in the Beef Cattle Industry, with paraders demonstrating their handling and parading abilities before a judge in the most professional manner.
"The parading was the NSW state championships," Jess said. "They are judged on how they present themselves as well as the cow."
The event involved sixteen year-old Jack and Marcus leading a steer or junior heifer from the General Beef Cattle Classes at the 2024 Sydney Royal.
The competition aims to educate and encourage young people as they are adjudicated with their peers, by an expert of the Beef Cattle Industry, parading an animal under real judging conditions. They qualified for the competition via ASC Group Finals, conducted during the past 12 months.
Marcus qualified through a Group 7 event held in the Southern Highlands while Jack came through the Group 10 central west event held at the Eugowra Show. As winner of the class Marcus went on to take part in the Grand Champion Parader State Final.
Jack is the son of Graeme and Jess Smyth. Marcus is the son of Oliver and Cassandra Wythes.
