The festival, spanning nine days, promises an array of activities for visitors to enjoy, with the highlight being the sight of iconic hot air balloons gracefully taking flight each day.
Alongside these mesmerising flights, attendees can look forward to signature events such as The Welcome to Canowindra Street Party and the Cabonne Community Balloon Glow.
Anton Kerr, a Canowindra pilot, sharing his enthusiasm for the event, said ballooning is a unique experience, describing flights as "magical" and "gentle and peaceful."
He praised the stunning scenery visible from above and expressed joy at passengers' reactions.
"Our passengers are always so amazed and grateful," Mr Kerr said.
Highlighting the safety of hot air balloon aviation, Mr Kerr said, "this is the safest form of aviation there is".
He recalled memorable moments from his career, including wedding proposals during flights and participating in championships in Slovenia.
"Every flight is memorable for my passengers, and that really rubs off on me and boosts my enthusiasm," Mr Kerr said.
Drawing a comparison between leisurely flights and competitive events that can both be seen at the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge, Mr Kerr likened the difference to "comparing driving in a comfortable passenger car and racing in a formula one car".
He emphasised the intensity of competition flights, where "everything is happening so much quicker and you're pushing a lot to the limit up there".
The festival offers something for everyone, with live entertainment, night markets, food and wine from the Cabonne Region and beyond, art exhibitions, pop-up choirs, and school holiday activities for children.
With its breathtaking sights and diverse attractions, the Canowindra Hot Air Balloon Festival promises a memorable experience for all who attend.
From April 20 to 28, Anton can be found floating high in the clouds showing new and reoccurring passengers the beauty of Canowindra.
