AUSTRALIAN music legend John Farnham traded microphone for reins in an attempt to prove he was a true horse Whispering Jack yesterday. He tried his hand at the National Cutting Horse Association's Non-pro Futurity on gelding Colonel Boonsman scoring 129 points but was unable to attain an aggregate score. Farnham and wife Jill, also an avid cutting horse competitor, are regular competitors in the Tamworth Futurity. These days Farnham, who has all but retired, spends his days breeding horses from his stud Chance Lodge in Goornong, Victoria. The Farnhams earned themselves a reputation as leading Australian breeders after selling the highest selling mare – $34,000 for two-year-old Chances Babyboonsmal – at the 2006 NCHA Futurity sale.
