graziers to learn about and implement sustainable grazing practices and support a peer
network of graziers who have already changed their management.
Mid Lachlan Landcare is a community based Landcare organisation which provides coordination, leadership and project management support for Landcare groups and individuals. It has a voluntary committee who
successfully manage several activities and projects.
The grazing project area includes the Mid Lachlan Landcare area which includes districts around Cowra, Canowindra, Cranbury, Eugowra, Carcoar, Woodstock, Hovels Creek, Koorowatha and Gooloogong.
It aims to increase the number of vibrant healthy farms producing the best food and fibres and support farmers to improve grazing management, improve water use efficiency resulting in increased groundcover and feed availability, reducing erosion and salinity, increasing soil carbon and improving soil health.
The grazing project will also explore and support farming systems which have already demonstrated benefits in the Mid Lachlan Landcare district, focusing on farming
systems which deliver on financial, social and ecological outcomes.
In addition it will have a strong emphasis on sharing experiences, expertise and information on farming systems and provide forums for local people to inform the future direction of Mid Lachlan Landcare.
Mid Lachlan Landcare has appointed local farmer Scott Hickman as project manager.
Scott will support farmers looking to improve grazing management on their farms.
You can contact Scott on 0427 450 416 or by email at oatleigh@dragnet.com.au.
