Bill Barwood said Canowindra is already well ahead in the fundraising stakes this year, with Saturday's street stall takings of $500 bringing their grand total $3,200
Canowindra's Roy White parked his restored Chamberlain C670 on the curb of Gaskill Street during the stall to help raise awareness about the 313-kilometre trek.
Mr White said people are used to seeing old cars driving around, but when it comes to old tractors, it's a whole different ball game.
Mr Barwood said Mr White is a major entrant who is noted over many years for his skills in the restoration of vintage tractors.
"Notable is the Chamberlain C670 which Roy has restored to almost mint condition from what could be described almost as 'scrap metal'," Mr Barwood said.
"Roy entered the 2013 Tractor Trek for the first time in the second year of this event for which he restored the Chamberlain expressly for that purpose."
Mr Barwood said Canowindra as always supports worthy causes and this 2014 Tractor Trek is no exception.
This year a major fundraising function is to be held at the Canowindra Services Club on Friday, September 19, when all the tractor entrants are staying overnight in the town.
The trek travels through Bowen Park, Cudal, Murga, Back Yamma Forest,Forbes, Eugowra, Gooloogong, Canowindra ending at Borenore on Saturday, September 20.
Nearly 30 tractors are expected to take part with a goal of raising $180,000 to help children and their families across the central west.
