Canowindra Tigers had their worst defeat in some time last Saturday against the strong Binalong team.
The tigers a little under strength still had a good side to complete the mission set for them.
The first half the Canowindra boys had very little ball and held out the Binalong team for some time, unfortunately after holding Binalong out for three sets of six, they finally forced their way over to take the early lead.
A short time later their hooker slipped through the Tigers defence and the lead went to 12-0.
The Tigers re-grouped and started to play the footy they are better known for and hit back with a good try to Adam Clunes who slipped from dummy half and ran thirty metres to score and McLean added the extras.
In the dying minutes of the first half Binalong scored from a Tigers mistake to lead 18-6 at the break.
After the break the Tigers were slow out of the blocks and Binalong ran in two tries to lead 28-6
At last the Tigers stepped up a gear for Kain Earsman to score after a strong run breaking tackles and powering his way to the line.
A come back was on the cards with 20 minutes left on the clock, the score 28-12, but the tigers seemed to go back into their shell and lack urgency around the ruck and Binalong run in four more tries.
Binalong's defence moved up really quickly and stopped a lot of raids from the tigers and with more work at training the little problems can be ironed out.
Strong games from Mark Kelly, Anthony Redfern, the Earsman brothers, Alex Willson and Jayden Brown all running into good form and a win against Peak Hill is possible.
The points this week went 3 Alex Willson, 2 Kain Earsman, 1 Jayden Brown, the players player went to Alex as well.
Youth league-
This was their best game of the year and are very close to a win but having players in the sin bin and one sent off didn't help their cause.
To win we need to be composed regardless of what happens.
The game plan working a treat, the boys put a lot of pressure on the Binalong defence.
The half time score of 14-8, the cubs were in striking distance.
While the tigers had a player short Binalong ran in a try to lead 20-8, the boys put in even though they only had one replacement.
Ten minutes into the second half was where everything went wrong and the Tigers where down to 11 players and Binalong took full advantage and put points on the board, the final score 32-14.
All players tried hard, with Wes and Billy having strong games in the forwards. Simon and Jayden worked well in the backs.
The points going to 3 Billy Braithwaite, 2 Jayden Pender, 1 Simon Oliver and players player to Wes Blair.
League tag-
It felt like it was going to be a long game when Binalong scored in the first five minutes.
But the girls re formed and came up it with a rock solid defensive line.
Some swift ball movement and ducking and weaving lead to the first Tigresses try to Ash (bones) McLean.
Moving up on the Binalong attack lead to the second try with Alicia (scabby knees) Earsman taking an intercept and making a nail bitting run for the line.
The second half was a strong arm wrest between both teams. With many heart thumping moments.
Hayley (little rang) broke through the Binalong defensive line many times and eventually came up with the Tigresses third try to seal the deal.
Every player gave 110 per-cent.
Final score 16-6 to Canowindra over Binalong.
3 points and players player Hayley White, 2 points Ash McLean, 1 point Hannah Roth.
