Federal Member for Calare, the Hon John Cobb MP is excited to announce there's plans for the first Black Spot mobile base stations in Calare to be switched on this June.
Mr Cobb said, "it's fantastic news to hear the mobile phone towers in Bogee,Warroo, Cargo, Manildra and Molong will be ready to turn on in about five months".
"These new mobile base station will bring a much-needed boost to mobile coverage, providing benefits to emergency service operators, businesses, and residents," said Mr Cobb.
"This marks the start of the Commonwealth Government's $385 million Mobile Black Spot Programme with Calare to get 18 new towers over the next three years under round 1"
"Applications for Round 2 have been received and are now being assessed and I'm confident we can attract further funding to address our mobile blackspots in Calare"
The Coalition Government is committed to improving mobile phone coverage in regional Australia with Round 1 of the programme delivering almost 500 new mobile base stations in regional and remote areas'.
This represents the largest one-time increase in mobile network coverage delivered by a single public funding programme in the history of mobile communications in Australia.
Round 2 will see the Commonwealth Government invest an additional $60 million in improving mobile coverage, on top of the Commonwealth Government's $100 million
