Despite a second half revival, Canowindra were unable to piece together a winning performance against the Grenfell Goannas on Sunday losing 28-16.

Played in terrible conditions at Grenfell, the Tigers were kept scoreless during the first 40 minutes but formed a minor comeback during the second half when they closed the deficit to four points on two occasions.
Three second half tries to the Goannas, though, sealed the hosts fifth win of the season, and Canowindra’s third loss in the process.
Grenfell opened the scoring after eight minutes after working their way into favorable territory following a disallowed Canowindra try.
A Grenfell penalty assisted the Goanna’s in extending the lead moments later when the Tigers’ ill discipline gifted the home side more possession at the end of their set.
Grenfell’s second rower crossed on the left side and the lead was 10-0 after 13 minutes.
Both side’s threatened to score during phases in the remaining 27 minutes of the first half but the score didn’t change until after the break.
Canowindra’s Jayden Brown opened the Tigers’ account scoring beside the uprights after Grenfell dished up possession inside their own 20 metres.
Matt Mclean converted the extras and the score was 10-6.
Grenfell and Canowindra swapped tries during the next 10 minutes with both goal-kickers converting their chances as the conditions worsened.
A string of penalties helped Grenfell convert good field possession into points with just 18 minutes remaining pushing the advantage out to 10-points.
A Canowindra sin-binning didn’t impact the visitors attack and the Tigers scored under the posts to bring the deficit to one converted try.
The Goanna’s continued to keep the Tigers at bay though scoring their fifth try and adding a further two-points through penalty goal with nine minutes to play.
This sealed Grenfell’s 28-16 round nine Woodbridge Cup win.
Canowindra now rest in third place, having been leapfrogged by the Cargo Blue Heelers who accounted for Condobolin in the respective round.
This weekend’s the Tigers travel to Peak Hill to play the eighth placed Roosters.
Meanwhile the Canowindra Tigers league tag side were kept scoreless against Grenfell losing 28-0.
The result leaves the Tigeresses sixth on the ladder after nine rounds.
